In 2008, the New South Wales government introduced legislation to encourage the establishment of small bars in Sydney. This move aimed to diversify the city?s nightlife, reduce alcohol-related violence, and create a more vibrant and sophisticated bar culture. The legislation allowed for the creation of intimate venues with a maximum capacity of 120 patrons, fostering a more relaxed and community-focused drinking environment.
