Over 3 hours, your guide takes you the length of King Street and into the laneways behind it, past internationally acclaimed street art splashed across heritage walls and independent shops run by the artisans who make what they sell. You'll hear how Newtown stood its ground against chain retail and won, the stories behind the murals, and why this multicultural neighbourhood became the cultural heartbeat of Sydney's inner west.
Along the way, you'll have the chance to try four local favourites: the world's most photographed dessert cake, a genuine Aussie meat pie, world-champion gelato and a locally brewed craft beer. Each one is an optional purchase, not included in the tour price, so you only pay for what you want to try. Try one, try all four or just watch, it's entirely up to you.
It's just one street and its laneways, but trust us, there's a lot packed into them.
